Humbrol Weathering Powder

Humbrol is a well known brand in the scale model world. I know them to mainly provide paints. Now they are expanding into weathering powder. In the past, weathering is done using chalk pastel. Getting the right color is a game of mix and match. Humbrol has come out with Weathering Powder, which greatly simplifies the process.

For the beginner using weathering powders, Humbrol have produced a 'How to' sheet, which we have here in pdf format, and they have opened a new YouTube channel where there are currently two videos showing you how you can use them.  It includes the how and why to use Decal Cote, Thinners and Matt Cote and how you combine them with the powders to create different effects along with how to mix them and how to use the different application techniques to build up layers without disturbing the lower layers as you apply new ones.  Humbrol have made very good use of the YouTube medium to add this freely available support to those who use their products and I'd say full marks to them for doing so.  Clearly illustrated and explained, these are very useful.

Social media is also used by Humbrol to great effect, providing beginners with Youtube video on their Youtube channel. There is also a PDF howto for beginners. You can check out Humbrol website for more details.
