So what we have is a 1/35 kit of the 'neuer Shutzenpanzer' in production format, complete with the full C level extra armour package. Moulded in the common dark green plastic used by Revell, this is a rather nicely done kit. It highlights the turret, which is offset to the left, but with the cannon on the right of the turret, it leaves the gun itself on the vehicle centerline. Once the extra armour panels are fitted, much or the running gear will be hidden from view. Track is provided in a soft black rubbery material, as are the mud flaps and the tow hawsers, but the bulk of the track is hidden away behind those armour panels. Generally nice detailing overall though I am sure there will be some etch brass sets come on the market from the aftermarket manufacturers for the modeller who wants to take it to that extra level of detail. Only one set of markings provided, and the German 3-colour camouflage as illustrated on the box, but for a vehicle that it not yet in service, it might be difficult to come up with others at this stage.
The kit is designed clearly to work for both the modeller who want the accurate model and the younger, more general hobbyist who is happy to get something that will make up well straight out of the box at a reasonable price. I think Revell manage to get the balance about right.
