Heller AMX 13/105

The French built AMX-13 is a light tank, developed in 1946 and retired in early 1980. It is still in use by the Indonesian Arrmy. Heller has released a rebox 1/72 version of the AMX-13 105.

In a tank that counts above all is arming. The idea behind the design of the AMX 13 was to build a very powerful gun turret as autonomous, highly mobile, tracked and therefore the lightest possible while being well protected. The first prototype of the AMX 13 was built in 1946: AMX Workshops for construction?? Issy-les-MoulinauX, 13 referring to?? Original weight of coal in tonnes. The first production models out workshops Roanne (ARE) in 1955. In the early 60s, the SOFMA (French Society of Materials Armament) gets an order for 131 AMX-13 for the Netherlands, which will be executed in 1962/1963. Specially designed for export, char AMX-13/105 Model 58 is equipped with turret FL 12, with the 105 mm L 44, 2D, equipped with a muzzle brake (NATO standard) . It is an oscillating turret whose upper part, integral with the barrel, pivots on the bottom to ensure the elevation (vertical movement 13 ° above the horizontal, below 8 °), and it rotates 360 °.
The tank commander is on the left, the right shooter. Automatic loading of the barrel is provided by two cylinders located in the neck of the turret. When the barrels are empty, a crew member must leave the tank to replenish it. After firing, the sleeve is ejected through a hatch at the rear of the turret. Primarily used by reconnaissance squadrons, the AMX-13 also served as the Dutch anti-tank weapon in the artillery. It was decommissioned in the early 1980s.
