Dragon Rommel and Staff Set 1942

The Afrika Korps with Erwin Rommel has always been my favorite subject. Dragon has release a figure set of Rommel and three staff figures, set in North Africa, 1942.

Based on preview from Military Modelling, it is great for diorama settings with Dorchester AFV. Soon to be available from AFV Club.

Now on sale is this new figure set from Dragon with Rommel in his iconic long leather coat and one of his captured Dorchester ACVs in the background. Add three more staff figures, and a sprue of Gen 2 equipment and away you go.  With seperate sections to the coat, no more solid coated figure models, a style we accepted as normal not many years ago. With this set there is also a paper printed map to go with them.  The spare equipment will do well to add in the Dorchester if that is what you combine these with in a diorama.

Do note, that this is a figure set, thus vehicles are not included.
The four figures contained in the box are beautifully sculpted in plastic, and the one representing Rommel is an extremely good likeness. He is dressed in his characteristic leather greatcoat, and he’s shown in typical pose as he directs his forces with consummate skill. His three staff officers are based on photographic sources, so they too possess realistic poses. All wear uniform elements characteristic of the period and the desert theater. Although they don’t come with personal weapons, they do carry suitable items such as binoculars, and they wear their medal decorations and hats. The sharp sculpting of these figures takes injection molding to the outer limits of its possibilities. This 1/35 figure set of Rommel and his staff in action lends itself to a dramatic North African diorama scene.

The scale is 1/35, definitely something I would do someday. Go find it in your local hobby shop.
